The Corrales West watershed between Southern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (SSCAFCA) Dam 1 and Montoya’s Pipeline experiences substantial drainage issues during heavy rains. WHPacific coordinated with the Village of Corrales, the public, and SSCAFCA to identify improvements to convey and collect runoff from this escarpment. Early in the project, WHPacific provided hydrology, dam breach analysis, flood wave routing, and inundation mapping for the probable maximum flood as the basis for an emergency action plan for this flood control dam located on the escarpment above the Village. After review of the initial submission and significant passage of time (in which requirements were being revised), the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer recommended that SSCAFCA also model the inundation mapping in Flo2D and that HMR-55A be used to develop the precipitation used in the study. WHPacific has recently competed revisions to the precipitation and the hydrology based on NMOSE recommendations, the modeling and inundation maps, and modifications to the report. The report has been submitted to NMOSE for review and approval.
