WHPacific was HDR, Inc.’s sub-consultant for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) – Atlantic project, in connection with regional shore infrastructure planning studies for U.S. Navy Facilities in Africa, Specifically Camp Lemonnier, which is located in the country of Djibouti, Africa.
WHpacific surveyors met the three-person HDR team in Washington DC, and journeyed together to Djibouti, Africa. Equipped with Trimble R8 GNSS GPS/RTK receivers and Trimble TSC3 Data Collectors, the survey team began a 12-day trip to gather the required data. Detailed planning was crucial to the success of this project in order to minimize the risk associated with transporting survey-grade GPS equipment in and out of a foreign country and ensure the safety of the survey staff.
WHPacific performed survey services that would allow for updates to the geographic information systems (GIS) facilities and features as determined by HDR in accordance with their Gap Analysis Program (GAP). The project included surveying communication and electrical features within the 400-acre perimeter of Camp Lemonnier.
